Georgia Barge is a vocalist and songwriter from Kansas City, Missouri and she currently studies vocal jazz at the University of North Texas. At UNT, she currently performs in the prestigious vocal group Jazz Singers and is the vocalist for the Two O’clock Lab Band. As a musician, she’s found her purpose and passion to be spreading the joy that music has given her, working towards giving others as positive of an experience as possible. Growing up, she was constantly surrounded by music and began to sing in elementary school, where she realized her love for the art. She began teaching herself piano and guitar, playing in small venues around Kansas City.

As a jazz musician, Georgia enjoys bringing in her love of pop, rock, r&b, and musical theatre to create her own genre-bending style. When back in Kansas City, Georgia performs at local middle schools and high schools in her area, sharing her experience of pursuing music in college and encouraging students to continue involvement in music programs after high school.

At UNT, Georgia has sung with the Seven and Four O’Clock Lab Bands as well as the Commercial Music Lab Band. She was featured as the vocalist with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and now sings with the North Texas Two O’Clock Lab Band, where she enjoys singing classic swinging standards and twists on contemporary tunes. This will be her second year singing in the UNT Jazz Singers, the award-winning vocal group she toured with last April and performed alongside at the 2025 JEN Conference. Through the Jazz Singers, she has gained immense experience collaborating with other musicians, listening, and adjusting to create a cohesive sound and style throughout the group. She frequently plays around the DFW and Kansas City areas, playing solo concerts while accompanying herself on piano and guitar, or in small and large band settings. While performing, she loves interacting with the audience and relating to their stories.

Georgia privately taught students ages 8-18 while in Kansas City, and now teaches voice and piano to students in Dallas. Through teaching, she has been able to put into practice the concepts she has learned and developed through her experience and schooling. Being able to pass on the legacy of music is one of the most special acts that a musician can do, and nothing is more thrilling than when a student finds their passion in performing.

In addition to performing, one of Georgia’s biggest passions includes songwriting. She has released original music on streaming platforms, and is currently working on releasing an album of both original music and standards that have inspired her as a jazz musician. Georgia finds value in writing music on her own as well as collaborating with other writers to weave universal stories that listeners can relate to. She was recently accepted into the 2025 Women In Jazz Mentorship Program, where she will get to work with professionals in the field on both her performance and writing skills.

In addition to majoring in Vocal Jazz, Georgia plans on double-minoring in Commercial Music and Music Business, where she can learn practical skills to become a successful and knowledgeable entrepreneur in the music field. You can find Georgia playing at the Mercury Chophouse in Arlington every Friday night, and her next performance in Denton will be with the Two O’clock Lab Band on April 8th. Through performing, teaching, and writing, Georgia wants to show the world not only how beautiful music can be. Once, she was just a little girl who  dreamed of being a pop star. Now, she dreams of using her love of music to inspire others.
